The 2020 International Congress that the African Federation of Rehabilitation Professionals (FATO) is organizing in Marrakech, Morocco, is the logical continuation of a long series of Congresses every two years and now well rooted in the professional traditions in Africa in the field of rehabilitation gathering Prosthetics & Orthotics Professionals, Physiotherapists, Physical rehabilitation physicians, Surgeons, Governmental Organizations, Non-Governmental Organization, People with Disabilities Associations, Speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, Biomechanicians, Podologists, Physical Rehabilitation Centres Managers, etc. Unfortunately, the Congress scheduled to be held in 2018 could not be held for several reasons.

Achieving such a situation of equitable and universal coverage of rehabilitation services in Africa would enable people to benefit from the rehabilitation services they need without facing financial difficulties, and to receive quality care that is good enough to improve their health. and their social participation.
As an African civil right organization coupled with an experience of seven international congresses and more and more legitimacy, FATO is committed to support/encourage the different African governments for the implementation of the whole recommendations in general and particularly the recommendations 3 and 8 including those relating to « Set up strategies and action plan on disability" and "Improve data collection on disability »
Thus, after many actions going in the sense of building capacity, improving the quality of services and fair access to rehabilitation care for people with disabilities in Africa, FATO is firmly committed to a comprehensive approach being aware that without the inclusion of rehabilitation in plans, strategies and development programs, many achievements may fail.
