Past Meetings:
May 5, 2009 GMT -2: 4-5pm; continued on May 19, 2009 same hour
Coordinator: Dr. Marta Imamura MD, PhD - Chair, ISPRM Education Committee.
Topic: Is exercise beneficial to patients with major depression, depression in the elderly, post-partum depression and Ahzheimer disease?
Background: Previous JCs critically appraised RCTs, observational studies, diagnostic questionnaires, and are now starting the appraisal of guidelines. Members of the ISPRM Education Committee will participate in this first consensus meeting that will try to answer the following clinical question: Are therapeutic exercises beneficial for patients with major depression, depression in the elderly, post partum depression and Alzheimer Disease? The emerging guideline will be a clinical update contribution, serving as an uptaded review from the ISPRM Education Committee. The discussion will cover a series of papers that were found both relevant and important in a search of Medline, Embase, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and Lilacs (from Latin American publications). The Van-Tulder tool (presented at the JC of October 2008) will be used to evaluate the quality of each selected paper and to define the level of scientific evidence of effectiveness available for the above clinical question. In a second phase, the AGREE instrument will be used to evaluate the quality of the guideline to be composed based on the above process. The meeting will take via videoconference. The adobe system: http://143.107.177.201/isprm can be used as an alternative by those who cannot use videoconference.
